The Civilian Marksmanship
Program is a rich heritage in our country. This type of sport
shooting was originally sponsored by the military in order to
provide citizens with an opportunity to learn how to handle a
battle rifle and to provide a pool of trained marksmen to
supplement national defense.
Our club puts
on a CMP Shoot, on the outdoor rifle range, from 9-11AM, the
first Sunday of every month. These shoots are open to the
public. Any military rifle with iron sights can be used. This
includes AR's, Garands, AK's, SKS's, 1903's, K98's and any other
military arm. The club has M1 Garands, AR
15's , and M1 Carbines that can be used free of charge with the
purchase of club ammo ($20/52 rounds). Due to the increased
costs and short supplies of ammo, club ammo is only for use in
club guns. Only club ammo is to be used in club guns.
The cost for
the shoot is $5 ($25 with ammo draw)
for members and $10 ($30 with ammo draw)
for non-members. NRA Certified Range Safety Officers are on
site.
Once a month
not enough? We shoot CMP practice just about every weekend. These practices are free to members, and are a great opportunity
to learn about the sport, and make some new friends. Check the
club discussion board for up-to-date information on the next CMP
practice at PMSC.

shots until the tie is resolved.
The
range commands will be:
"Relay
To The Firing Line"
- At this time, shooters on that relay number will
report to the firing line with their rifle (actions open) and
ammo.
"Shooters
Ready" - Upon the ready command, shooters
will have 15 seconds to load their rifles and take aim on the
first target. Any shots fired or targets broken before
the fire command will count as a lost target.
"Fire"
- Shooters may commence firing once the "fire"
command is given. Also at this time the 2½ minute time
limit will start.
"Cease
Fire, Bolts Open" - This command will be
called when the time limit has expired, a safety concern has
arisen, or in the event of an emergency. Shooters should
open their bolts immediately, remove any magazines, clear all
chambers and make their rifles safe.
"Any
Excuses or Alibis" - At this time any
shooter having problems may voice them with the contest
director and shooters may leave the firing line.
