Boy Scout Camporee

June 7, 8 and 9, PMSC will host BSA Troop 90. This will be a 'Mini Shooting Camporee' like we held in April. We can use some volunteers and workparty credit will be given. We will not provide lunch. Shooting events will be Black Powder, 22 Rifle, Archery, Trap Shooting, Venture Scouts - pistol shooting, and air rifle. We will need the Combo Building from 8AM through 4PM (indoor pistol and archery range closed). The Steel Paradise Range will also be closed from 11AM through 4PM. We will use the 50yd rifle range but 100, 200, and 300yd ranges will be open. One IPSC bay may also be used from 11AM through 12PM. Scouts will camp on the playground. If anyone has questions or would like to help, email Bill Chessman at chess202@comcast.net

PMSC skeet league

Over the past few months, I've received several requests for some sort of casual skeet league for PMSC members. So, starting May 1st, PMSC's first-ever skeet league will begin!

The goal is to keep it casual and the barrier to entry low, while helping people improve their shooting skills and learn from each other. Nobody should hear the word "league" and think "I'm not good enough for that yet". You're only competing against yourself (and anyone else you feel like competing against). Also, league rounds will cost exactly the same as non-league rounds and you can shoot them any time you want. Click "Read more" below for details on how to participate...

CPR, A.E.D. & First Aid Classes

PMSC will be sponsoring CPR, A.E.D. & First Aid classes, for members and non-members. Classes are limited to 10 people and we will be holding classes in May, and subsequent months until demand lessens. Mary Jane Schifino R.N., BHA. and Certified Trainer, will be teaching the class. The cost is $ 30.00 to cover the cost of materials for members, and $ 65.00 for non-members. You will be certified for 2 years. Interested parties should contact M.J. e-mail- maryjanesc@yahoo.com, phone 412-600-7151 or 412-400-6719

Indoor Pistol Range Orientation

To use the indoor pistol range you must first take an orientation class offered by either Steve Davidson (412-720-7609 or sdavidson98@comcast.net) or Jeff Lipsitz (412-228-9189 or jhlipsitz@comcast.net). These brief courses are offered on the first and third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. by Steve Davidson by appointment only and on the first and third Saturday of each month at noon by Jeff Lipsitz by appointment only. After you take the orientation class your access card will be coded into the reader for the indoor range. If you have any questions or encounter any problems on the indoor pistol range contact Steve.

Weekly skeet night

It's starting to warm up and the daylight is lasting longer, so I wanted to remind everyone that skeet night is every Thursday night 6:30pm-9pm on the skeet field (weather permitting). You'll need your own ammo (#7.5 shot or smaller). If you don't have your own shotgun, there's usually someone willing to share a gun with a first-timer, and the club also has 12ga shotguns available in exchange for a small cleaning fee (only factory ammo allowed in club guns). The cost is $3 per round. Also, if you're a member who would like to be able to shoot skeet at your convenience, come on a Thursday night, and I will give you a short orientation on the operation of the skeet field. For more information, contact Kenny Riddile at kfriddile@gmail.com
